Pattern Analysis of Pandemic/Epidemic/Reassortment of Influenza Virus

چکیده

Influenza viruses, which are responsible for annual outbreaks, can exist in any of 198 possible influenza subtypes resulting from the combinations of 18 hemagglutinin and 11 neuraminidase types. However, the number of subtypes capable of infecting humans has never been predicted or investigated. Influenza virus outbreaks that occur every year can be categorized as follows: a pandemic with high infectivity and mortality, a regional epidemic, or a recombination event leading to reassortment. Investigating changes in influenza viruses through pattern analysis of viruses responsible for each outbreak is an important research tool that can help to predict the zoonotic characteristics of influenza viruses.

Ubiquitous Reassortments in influenza a viruses

The influenza A virus is a negative-stranded RNA virus composed of eight segmented RNA molecules, including polymerases (PB2, PB1, PA), hemagglutinin (HA), nucleoprotein (NP), neuraminidase (NA), matrix protein (MP), and nonstructure gene (NS). The influenza A viruses are notorious for rapid mutations, frequent reassortments, and possible recombinations. Among these evolutionary events, reassor...

In vivo reassortment of influenza viruses.

The genetic material of influenza A virus consists of eight negative-sense RNA segments. Under suitable conditions, the segmented structure of the viral genome allows an exchange of the individual gene segments between different strains, causing formation of new reassorted viruses. For reassortment to occur, co-infection with two or more influenza virus strains is necessary. The reassortment is...

Neuraminidase and Hemagglutinin Matching Patterns of a Highly Pathogenic Avian and Two Pandemic H1N1 Influenza A Viruses

BACKGROUND Influenza A virus displays strong reassortment characteristics, which enable it to achieve adaptation in human infection. Surveying the reassortment and virulence of novel viruses is important in the prevention and control of an influenza pandemic. Meanwhile, studying the mechanism of reassortment may accelerate the development of anti-influenza strategies. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FI...

Multiple Reassortment Events in the Evolutionary History of H1N1 Influenza A Virus Since 1918

The H1N1 subtype of influenza A virus has caused substantial morbidity and mortality in humans, first documented in the global pandemic of 1918 and continuing to the present day. Despite this disease burden, the evolutionary history of the A/H1N1 virus is not well understood, particularly whether there is a virological basis for several notable epidemics of unusual severity in the 1940s and 195...

New Mathematical Model of BIS for Influenza a Virus Pattern Prediction

Influenza virus undergoes continuous changes, evolving into different types every year; in fact, there are up to 198subtypes of the influenza virus. Each subtype infects a different animal species and has different levels of infectivity. The infection pattern and time of outbreak of each subtype can be analyzed to predict its infectivity. Conventional approaches involve the use of simple DNA or...
